Center of Green Nanotechnology Innovations for Environmental Solutions (CGNIES)

This Center is established to ascertain concerted efforts to use nano-innovations to solve environmental problems in Davao Region and Mindanao by being the premiere center to bolster the capability of UM to undertake science and technology research that establishes nanomaterial safe use and disposal policies to ensure that preventive measures protect the health and safety of nano-workers and the environment. This is one of the 38 laboratories established under the DOST-PCIEERD Institution Development Program (IDP) that aims to provide financial support for the establishment and upgrading of research laboratories and facilities of academic and research institutions in the country. The distinguishing feature of CGNIES is its emphasis on environmentally friendly methods for creating nanomaterials from resources in Region XI and its integration with micro and macro structures for creating technological remedies for environmental issues.
