RATIONALE
The University of Mindanao, through its Institute of Social Welfare and Human Development Studies and the Research and Publication Center, recognizes the crucial role of research in addressing pressing societal issues and informing evidence-based policy and practice. In an era of rapid social transformation, increasing inequality, and evolving human development challenges, the need for multidisciplinary and community-centered research has become more vital than ever.
Launched in School Year 2022–2023, the Research Conference on Social Welfare and Human Development was conceived as a platform to showcase high-impact research in the fields of social work, social welfare, and human development. Now a continuing annual initiative, the conference brings together researchers, practitioners, educators, and students to share findings, foster dialogue, and promote collaborative approaches to social development.
This conference reflects the University’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and nation-building through knowledge generation and utilization. By providing a venue for scholarly exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, the event seeks to bridge the gap between research and practice for the benefit of vulnerable communities and the broader society.
